At least 15 people have died after a Ford Expedition SUV was involved in a collision with a semi-truck in Imperial County, California, located just miles from the U.S.-Mexico border, officials said. Imperial Fire Department Battalion Chief Juan Rodelo told Fox 11 in Los Angeles that a mass casualty crash in Holtville occurred. A number of people have been injured, officials said. Fourteen people were found dead at the scene of the crash, said Judy Cruz, the managing director of the emergency department at the El Centro Regional Medical Center, according to The New York Times. “We believe there was 27 passengers in this S.U.V. that struck a semi-truck full of gravel,” Cruz said.
