191 Arrested, 57 Vehicles Towed in Ottawa as Police Continue Operation Against Trucker Protest

This article will be updated throughout the day OTTAWA, Canada—Ottawa police said on the morning of Feb. 20 that 191 people have been arrested and 57 vehicles towed as law enforcement continues operations to clear protesters opposed to COVID-19 mandates from the nation’s capital. Of those arrested, 103 have been charged, mostly on charges of mischief and obstruction, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) said. “89 of them have been released with conditions that include a boundary they are not allowed to attend,” OPS said in a tweet. “The others have been released unconditionally.” Police have designated the site of the protest in Ottawa’s downtown core as a secured area. Checkpoints have been set up to only allow access to those who live or work in the area.
