Constitution Versus Big Tech: Florida’s Digital Bill of Rights

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has proposed a Digital Bill of Rights to protect Florida residents from Big Tech overreach. The digital age has led to what many see as the infringement of Americans’ First Amendment rights. The Constitution’s founders viewed the right to speak freely as natural law. Fast forward to 2016, then 2020, and now 2023, and there is clearly a disruption to the natural order. Perhaps the most significant violation of free speech is the recent discovery that the federal government colluded with social media platforms to censor and, in some cases, ban its users. In addition to censorship, courts are also held up with cases on consumer data and geotracking. As a result, defending constitutional rights seems to be a long, cumbersome process….
