Jeep’s Wrangler 4xe is powered by a 2.0-liter direct-injection Turbo PHEV engine assisted by electric drive motors and 8P75PREV 8-speed automatic transmission. This first-ever electrified Wrangler will be initially offered in three trim levels: Sahara 4xe, Rubicon 4xe, and High Altitude 4xe. Focus for this column will be on the Rubicon. The gas-electric hybrid Wrangler will go from 0-60 mph in just under 6 seconds. The energy to drive the motors is stored in a 17kWh battery pack. The Wrangler 4xe gets 20 mpg on gasoline engine alone, and 49 MPGe with electric assist. Driving with purely electric power, the 4xe can go 21 miles.
