Special counsel John Durham has charged former Perkins Coie partner and Clinton campaign attorney Michael Sussmann with lying to the FBI. This week, Sussmann’s trial gets underway.
Sussmann met with James Baker, the FBI’s senior legal counsel, in September 2016, giving Baker data that Sussmann claimed showed communications between Trump Tower and the Russian Alfa Bank. That data was created by a group headed by a shadowy tech executive named Rodney Joffe.
Sussmann lied to Baker during the initiation of his visit, telling Baker that he was acting as a private citizen, not on behalf of any particular client. This is the lie that Sussmann is being charged with by Durham….
