Republican Gov. Ron Desantis of Florida on May 19 signed a bill into law that will increase the criminal penalties for fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficking. The Biden administration has proposed giving the World Health Organization (WHO), an international body, the power to declare a public health emergency in whichever country it pleases without consulting said country. Critics of the WHO and its multi-member body, which includes authoritarian regimes like the Chinese Communist Party, are sounding the alarm.
