Videos and photos are emerging on social media showing buildings damaged after a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck in regional Victoria, in the south of Australia at around 9.15 a.m. on Wednesday morning local time. One video showed the brick facade and part of the roof of a building crumbled onto Chapel Street in the suburb of Prahran, while another showed a live news broadcast from a studio being disrupted by the tremors. Geoscience Australia reported the quake’s epicentre at a depth of 10km (6.2 miles) near Mansfield, about 200km (131 miles) northeast of Melbourne, Victoria’s capital. A magnitude 4.0 aftershock was reported later. Meanwhile, the Bureau of Meteorology has said that there is no tsunami threat from the quake.
