Moderna Inc. on Tuesday sought conditional marketing authorization with the European Medicines Agency for use of its COVID-19 vaccine in children aged 6 to 11, coming as French authorities said people under age 30 shouldn’t receive the shot. On Tuesday, the French National Authority for Health (HAS) announced that people under the age of 30 should receive Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine instead of Moderna’s shot when possible, citing concerns that Moderna’s vaccine carried a higher risk for heart issues. They stressed the risk of developing the heart condition is “very rare.” “Within the population aged under 30, this risk appears to be around five times lesser with Pfizer’s Comirnaty jab compared to Moderna’s Spikevax jab,” the HAS said Monday.
