SAN DIEGO—San Diego County public health officials have reported 756 new COVID-19 cases and three additional virus-related deaths. The Oct. 1 report brought the county’s cumulative totals to 357,254 cases since the pandemic began, while fatalities increased to 4,081. The number of COVID-19 patients in county hospitals decreased from 351 on Thursday to 345 Friday, with 111 of those patients in intensive care, according to state figures. A total of 38,100 new tests were logged by the county Friday, and the percentage of positive cases over the past 14 days was 3.5 percent. More than 4.76 million vaccine doses have been administered in San Diego County, with 2.47 million people—or 88.2 percent of eligible county residents—having received at least one dose, according to the latest data.
